For us to create lasting habits we really need to integrate them seamlessly into our normal daily lives, ideally attaching them to a habit that we already have or fixing them at a key point in the day, such as when we've just got up, after brushing our teeth, or while the kettle is boiling for our first cup of tea.
It can be really hard to make practising yoga a daily practice, especially when it can feel like you've got to do a 60 minute practice for it to 'be worthwhile', but that's not the case.
Just 5 minutes of movement, meditation or breathwork every day would make a huge impact on your life, in the same way that a bad habit done every single day for 5 minutes has an impact on how we think and feel.
As we head into a new week, I would therefore like to challenge you to try and build a new habit into your day. One that makes you feel good and that when done, will make you proud that you have stuck with it for another day. Try to attach it to an existing habit or time of day, to make it effortless for you to add it into your life. It can be much easier for us to do something new when we're feeling motivated and full of energy, but it's hard when we haven't slept well and feel a bit crap, and that's when making it easy and accessible makes all the difference.
If you find it really hard to motivate yourself (and trust me, I need external accountability to get anything done!), I'm here to help with that!
Every day this week, I will be doing a free 15 minute live on Facebook and Instagram, from 7:30-7:45am with a mixture of movement, breathwork and mindfulness to help you feel good in your body and mind as you start your day.
I'm making myself keep this habit by telling you about it now, so you are now my source of external accountability, and it's your turn to do the same by sending me a quick 'I'm in!' or thumbs up by email or on social media, maybe get a friend to join you so you can encourage each other, and either join me at 7:30am every day next week or decide on a time that you will catch on the video.
I'd love to hear how you get on. let's do this!
